It is so easy to go wrong

In these times of national finals and pre-selections, I just want to remind the world how easy it is to go wrong and make the wrong decisions. It is not the end of the world, it is just a shame.

Look at Finland in 2007, for instance. The two best songs out of all 24 in the semis were kicked out at the first stage. I could not believe my eyes, but this is what happened.

Errare humanum est, everybody makes mistakes. Some make them more often, though. Sit back and enjoy what Finland could have treated the world with last year.

Johanna Kurkela - Jossain metsäin takana - Finnish NF 2007

Laura - Kosketa mua - Finnish NF 2007

I still get goosebumps when listening to Kosketa mua. Perhaps THE best Eurovision related song of 2007. And I LOVE Laura always!

And I have exactly the same feeling listening to Jossain... with Kosketa mua as a close second. Dumb finns. How could they?

I know! Kosketa mua is a masterpiece and I've been listening to it a lot. Too bad Laura herself cheered for that stupid Take a chance -song, and the finns did what she wanted them to do - voted it to the final thinking it could be the next Addicted to you, though it's just a dull version of it..
Oh, and why drag that guy all the way from Italy to sing few lines if you don't even want your song to qualify?

On the contrary I enjoyed Olet uneni kaunein from Johanna more than Jossain metsäin takana. But of course both songs are pretty and she sings them well.

Another example from last year (though nothing as fantastic as Johanna & Laura) is Beats and style's song Take it back, which didn't make it to the final, but was played a lot on the radio afterwards as their new single. And the song that made it to the final...well I can't even remember that one..

Yeah..it is a shame. But then again if there was just an internal selection in every country, think of all the great songs that we probably would have never even got to hear?! In these difficult times of national finals and pre-selections, try and think positive, eh ;)
